40+ Financial Institutions to Research Tokenization of Cross-Border Payments via BIS’s Agora Project
Over 40 global financial institutions are set to explore the application of tokenization to wholesale cross-border payments through the Bank for International Settlements’ (BIS) Agora project. The project is currently in the design phase and will investigate how tokenized commercial bank money based on the BIS’s shared ledger concept could be integrated with tokenized wholesale central bank money on a programmable core financial platform.
