Bitcoin World Submits Application for Hong Kong Cryptocurrency Exchange License

Bitcoin World, a cryptocurrency exchange, has applied for a license to operate in Hong Kong. The application was submitted to the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) on May 17th. The SFC is currently reviewing 21 applications for cryptocurrency exchange licenses. Eight applications have been withdrawn, including two from Huobi. If Bitcoin World is granted a license, it will be one of the first cryptocurrency exchanges to operate in Hong Kong under the new regulatory framework. The SFC has been working to develop a regulatory framework for cryptocurrency exchanges since 2018. The framework is designed to protect investors and ensure that cryptocurrency exchanges operate in a fair and orderly manner. The SFC's updated list of cryptocurrency exchange license applications can be found on its website.
