Circle, the company behind the USDC stablecoin, is actively pursuing partnerships with multiple South Korean companies, according to Yankey Chan, Vice President of Strategic Policy at Circle. These partnerships aim to foster innovation within the Korean market, especially in the burgeoning metaverse sector. Circle already boasts a partnership with Krafton, a domestic game company known for its metaverse project, Over The Edge. Chan highlighted the robust demand and rapidly growing interest in virtual assets in Korea, particularly among younger demographics. He also acknowledged the regulatory challenges in the country but expressed optimism about the gradual improvements being implemented, such as the revised user protection law introduced in July.
