This request is part of an ongoing legal battle between Coinbase and the SEC, stemming from the latter's perceived inaction in responding to Coinbase's Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests. Coinbase contends that Gensler's communications regarding crypto regulation during his tenure are crucial to the company's defense strategy. The lawsuit, filed in June 2023, also involves the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. (FDIC) and alleges that both agencies failed to adhere to FOIA obligations.
