Crypto Exchange Inflows Dominated by Short-Term Holders: STHs Drive Volatility

With the recent market volatility in the cryptocurrency market, CryptoSlate analyzed data from CryptoQuant to shed light on the behavior of Bitcoin (BTC) holders. The data suggests that a significant majority of BTC inflows into exchanges over the past month have come from short-term holders (STHs), individuals who have held their coins for less than three months. As of September 12th, STHs accounted for over 92% of BTC inflows, with those holding their coins for less than a week comprising 83% of the total. Long-term holders (LTHs), on the other hand, have also increased their deposits to exchanges but still represent a minority of the overall inflow. This suggests that while STHs may be contributing to the current market volatility, LTHs are selectively selling their BTC in a strategic manner.
