US Court Sentences Hacker to 47 Years for Home Invasions Targeting Cryptocurrency

The United States District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina has sentenced Remy Saint Felix to 47 years in prison for his involvement in a series of home invasions targeting cryptocurrency. According to the Department of Justice, Saint Felix, 33, was convicted by a federal jury in Greensboro, North Carolina, on multiple charges, including conspiracy to commit Hobbs Act robbery, Hobbs Act robbery, and brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence. The investigation revealed that Saint Felix planned and carried out several home invasions between 2020 and 2021, targeting individuals he believed possessed cryptocurrency. He and his accomplices used firearms to intimidate victims and steal their cryptocurrency assets. The court found that Saint Felix's crimes not only resulted in substantial financial losses for the victims but also caused significant emotional trauma. U.S. Attorney Michael Easley stated, "This sentence sends a clear message that we will not tolerate violent crimes motivated by greed." The FBI, Greensboro Police Department, and the Guilford County Sheriff's Office investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Emily C. Colin and Sandra J. Hairston prosecuted the case.
