CU Celebrates Bitcoin Pizza Day with Bitcoin Giveaway

CU, a popular convenience store chain in South Korea, is offering customers the chance to earn Bitcoin as part of a special Bitcoin Pizza Day promotion. The promotion is a collaboration between CU and cryptocurrency exchange Bithumb. Customers who purchase pizza-related products at CU can participate in the "Sharing Benefits Event" and receive Bitcoin worth up to 25,000 KRW (approximately $22). In addition, CU is also holding a "Double Bitcoin Accumulation Event." This event applies to all products sold at CU. Customers who participate in the event and accumulate membership points will receive Bitcoin equivalent to 50 times the amount of points accumulated. The promotion is being held to celebrate Bitcoin Pizza Day, which commemorates the first purchase of a physical product using Bitcoin in 2010. On that day, Laszlo Hanyecz purchased two pizzas from Papa John's for 10,000 Bitcoin. The value of Bitcoin has since soared, making Hanyecz's purchase worth millions of dollars today. However, the purchase also marked a significant milestone in the history of Bitcoin, as it was the first time the cryptocurrency was used to purchase a physical good. CU's Bitcoin giveaway is a nod to this historic event and is a way to introduce more people to the world of cryptocurrency.
