Eleanor Terrett, a reporter for FOX Business, tweeted on March 17, 2023 that she has heard that the SEC and the issuer of an ETH spot ETF filing have initiated discussions regarding the S-1. A source familiar with the discussions informed her that there is "work to do." The development comes after Grayscale Investments filed a registration statement for an ETH spot ETF with the SEC in October 2022. The application is still pending with the SEC. If approved, a spot ETF would allow investors to gain exposure to the price of ETH without having to hold or store the underlying asset. This could make it easier for investors to diversify their portfolios and potentially gain exposure to the growing cryptocurrency market.
