Telegram Hamster Kombat Users Targeted in Phishing Attack, Hackers Steal Funds

Telegram-based game Hamster Kombat (HMSTR) users are being targeted by a phishing attack, according to a report by Cointelegraph. Users are reportedly being sent phishing links that promise to convert their in-game Hamster Kombat coins into fiat currency but instead request their Telegram login credentials, allowing the attackers to abscond with their funds. Cybersecurity firm Kaspersky added that “the scammers even create fake websites to trick users into parting with their funds.” HMSTR was listed on Bybit’s Prime Market on August 8. No official statement has been released by the Hamster Kombat team regarding the phishing attack, but users are advised to be vigilant and to avoid clicking on any suspicious links. Phishing attacks are a common way for hackers to steal funds from unsuspecting users. Users should be wary of any unsolicited messages or emails that request their personal information. They should also only visit official websites and avoid clicking on any links that they do not recognize. If you believe that you have been the victim of a phishing attack, you should immediately change your Telegram password and contact your exchange to report the incident.
