Kwon Do-hyung's Extradition to Korea Delayed Again: Montenegrin Prosecutor's Office Files Appeal

Kwon Do-hyung's extradition to Korea has been delayed once again as the Montenegrin prosecutor's office has filed an appeal against the Montenegrin court's decision to extradite him. According to Yonhap News, the Montenegrin Supreme Prosecutor's Office requested the Supreme Court to review the legality of the appeal court and high court's rulings on Kwon's extradition, arguing that they violated the International Criminal Justice Cooperation Act. The Supreme Court will now consider the legality of the Supreme Prosecutor's Office's request and may decide to temporarily suspend Kwon's extradition to Korea. The Supreme Court is expected to make a decision by the end of the week. Kwon Do-hyung is a key figure in the Terra·Luna incident, in which a cryptocurrency platform collapsed, causing significant financial losses to investors. He was arrested in Montenegro in May 2022 and has been fighting extradition to Korea ever since.
