MetaMask, a popular cryptocurrency wallet, is reportedly working on adding support for Bitcoin (BTC). Multiple sources have told CoinDesk this, and the support could arrive as early as next month. However, another source cautioned that the feature is not yet finalized and may roll out in phases, with limited functionality at first. MetaMask developer ConsenSys declined to comment on "specific roadmap details" when asked about the upcoming feature. However, the company said it is "constantly exploring new ways to support our users." The addition of Bitcoin support would be a significant development for MetaMask, which is currently one of the most popular wallets for Ethereum (ETH) and other ERC-20 tokens. It would also be a major boost for Bitcoin, as it would make it easier for people to store and use the cryptocurrency.
