Nigeria Plans Blockchain and AI Research Centers
The Nigerian government, through its National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), is planning to establish research centers for emerging technologies like blockchain and artificial intelligence (AI), according to a report by Cointelegraph. The centers will be set up in each of the country's six geo-political zones, and NITDA will provide funding for research and product development by startups in the sector. The agency also plans to create innovation sandboxes to foster collaboration and the development of new technologies. This initiative aligns with Nigeria's commitment to harnessing technology for economic growth and development. By establishing these research centers, the government aims to position the country as a hub for innovation and attract investment in the emerging tech sector.
