One Trading Receives License for Crypto Derivatives Exchange in Europe

One Trading, a Netherlands-based cryptocurrency company, has been granted a license by the Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM) to operate a regulated cryptocurrency derivatives exchange in Europe. This makes One Trading the first company to be granted such a license in the region. The license, known as an Organized Trading Facility (OTF) license, allows One Trading to offer a range of cryptocurrency derivatives products, including futures and options. The company plans to launch its exchange in the first half of 2023. One Trading's CEO, Emmanuel Olivier, said that the license is a "major milestone" for the company and for the cryptocurrency industry as a whole. He said that the license will allow One Trading to "bring transparency, efficiency, and trust to the cryptocurrency derivatives market." The AFM's decision to grant the license to One Trading is a sign that regulators are becoming more comfortable with the cryptocurrency industry. It is also a sign that the cryptocurrency industry is maturing and becoming more institutionalized.
