The Rise of Three Major US Stock Market Indexes

The Dow Jones Industrial Average, the S&P 500, and the Nasdaq Composite started off the day nearly in unison, rising between 1.2% and 1.4%, and managed to maintain their gains all day. The gains came amid a batch of mostly positive earnings reports and as investors continue to look ahead to the Federal Reserve's next policy meeting. The Dow finished the day up 416.33 points, or 1.26%, at 33,542.42. The S&P 500 climbed 63.83 points, or 1.36%, to 4,743.84. The Nasdaq gained 225.26 points, or 1.42%, to 16,064.51. All three indexes are now at their highest levels in nearly three months.
