Stacks Nakamoto Upgrade: Completed and Set for August Activation

The Stacks (STX) Foundation recently announced that development of the Stacks Nakamoto upgrade code is finished, and it will be activated on the mainnet in late August. The upgrade is designed to significantly enhance transaction speeds and introduce support for BTC virtual machine (VM) operations. This advancement will open doors for the development of BTC-based decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols and associated dApps. The Stacks Foundation noted that the code was completed ahead of the initial target date of July 15. Currently, internal and external audits are being conducted alongside thorough testing and bug fixes. The foundation anticipates rolling out the upgrade and sBTC concurrently within the next four weeks. Additional details, partnerships, and related content will be unveiled at the Bitcoin 2024 conference in Nashville, Tennessee, which is scheduled for a three-day run starting May 25 (local time). This upgrade marks a significant milestone for the Stacks ecosystem, enabling the creation of innovative financial applications and promoting the growth of the broader Bitcoin economy.
