Bitcoin Native Token Protocol in the Works via Taproot Wizards Co-Founder

Taproot Wizards co-founder Udi Wertheimer recently announced on X (formerly Twitter) that he is working on a “BTC native token protocol” called CATNIP. This protocol is based on OP_CAT, a code that brings Ethereum (ETH)-like smart contract functionality to Bitcoin. Wertheimer stated that the “UX for BRC-20s and Runes has been frustrating” and believes that CATNIP, which is still in development, could solve this issue. The official announcement for CATNIP will be made once OP_CAT is live on Bitcoin’s mainnet.
