Tether, the world's largest stablecoin issuer, has hired Philip Gradwell, a former chief economist at blockchain data analytics firm Chainalysis, as its head of economics. Gradwell will play a key role in quantifying the Tether economy, educating regulators and stakeholders on how Tether is used, and leveraging his expertise to enhance understanding of Tether’s essential role in dollarization, the company said. "Gradwell's expertise will enhance understanding of Tether’s essential role in dollarization and how Tether drives economic growth," Tether said in a statement. Tether is a stablecoin pegged to the US dollar. It is the most widely used stablecoin in the cryptocurrency market, with a market capitalization of over $80 billion.
