Tornado Cash Creator Files for Trial Delay

According to CoinDesk reporter Nikhilesh De's Twitter account, the lawyers for Tornado Cash creator and developer Roman Storm have asked a court to postpone his trial from September to January or February of next year, citing the complexity of the case. The Tornado Cash application is a controversial cryptocurrency mixing service that has been accused of facilitating money laundering and other illicit activities. Storm was arrested in the Netherlands in August 2022 and has been charged with money laundering and aiding terrorism financing. If convicted, he could face up to 20 years in prison. The delay request comes as Storm's legal team prepares to file a motion to dismiss the charges against him. They argue that the charges are politically motivated and that Storm did not intend to aid terrorism financing or money laundering. The court has not yet ruled on the delay request.
