Tim Walz Returns Campaign Funds From FTX Associate Nishad Singh

Tim Walz, the Democratic Governor of Minnesota who considered joining the 2020 presidential nomination as Kamala Harris's running mate, has returned a $4,000 campaign contribution from former FTX director Nishad Singh. The contribution was made to Walz's reelection campaign in October 2022, but was returned after FTX's collapse. In addition, FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried reportedly donated $2,500 to Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison's campaign just days before the cryptocurrency exchange filed for bankruptcy. Singh has since pleaded guilty to fraud charges related to his role in concealing the source of Bankman-Fried's political donations. These developments highlight the growing scrutiny of campaign contributions from cryptocurrency executives, and the potential for conflicts of interest in the wake of the collapse of FTX and other digital asset exchanges.
