WazirX Claims Binance Responsible For $230M Hack, Binance Denies

Indian cryptocurrency exchange WazirX has alleged that Binance may share responsibility for a hack that resulted in the theft of $230 million worth of cryptocurrency in July 2022. Binance has refuted this claim, asserting that it no longer provides wallet services to WazirX and was not involved in the exchange's operations at the time of the incident. "Binance made it clear in early 2023 that it had discontinued its wallet services for WazirX," the company stated. "We do not own or operate WazirX and had no role in the operations of the entity at the time of the incident." WazirX maintains that Binance, as a major shareholder, bears some accountability for the hack. Binance insists that the onus lies with the team responsible for the breach.
