Yuga Labs Co-Founder: “Cryptopunks is Decentralizing, Let Go”

Yuga Labs co-founder Greg Solano (Garga.eth) recently announced that the company will no longer be involved with Cryptopunks, which it acquired two years ago. Solano stated that Cryptopunks will become fully decentralized and that Yuga Labs' future role will be limited to assisting museums, institutions, and educational outreach. This announcement marks a significant shift in the ownership and control of Cryptopunks, one of the most iconic NFT collections. The move toward decentralization is in line with the broader trend within the NFT space, where communities are increasingly seeking to take ownership of their projects. While Yuga Labs will no longer be directly involved in Cryptopunks, it is expected to remain a major player in the NFT market. The company is behind the popular Bored Ape Yacht Club collection, and it is also developing a new metaverse project called Otherside.
