7% of Americans Held Crypto in the Past Year, Survey Finds

Approximately 18 million adults in the United States, or 7% of the total adult population, held or used cryptocurrency in the past year. This figure, according to a recent survey by the Federal Reserve, marks a decline from previous years. In 2021, 12% of adults reported holding or using cryptocurrency, which dropped to 10% in 2022. The survey also found that only 1% of adults used cryptocurrency as a form of payment or to send remittances, a significant decrease from 2% in 2022.
