U.S. April CPI Rises 3.4% Year-over-Year, Meeting Forecasts

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that the April Consumer Price Index (CPI) surged by 3.4% year-over-year, meeting market expectations. This increase aligns with the 3.4% forecast. However, the monthly CPI growth of 0.3% fell short of the anticipated 0.4% rise. Previously on May 15, 2024, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that the April Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 3.4% year-over-year (up from 2.5% in February), meeting market expectations of 3.4%. April's CPI increased 0.3% month-over-month, falling short of the 0.4% market expectation.
