CyberAlert Detects Large-Scale Bau Attack and Tracks Stolen Assets

CyberAlert, a leading blockchain security firm, has uncovered a significant hacking incident involving the cryptocurrency Bau (VOW). In a recent announcement, CyberAlert disclosed that it detected suspicious transactions connected to Bau on August 13, 2023. The attacker deployed a malicious contract, enabling them to steal approximately 175 ETH, 595,970 USDT, and 5,801,632 VOW in two separate transactions. Subsequently, the stolen funds were transferred to Tornado Cash, a cryptocurrency mixing service. CyberAlert's investigation revealed that the attacker initially deposited 50 ETH into Tornado Cash and currently holds 402 ETH in their account. This incident highlights the growing sophistication of cryptocurrency-related attacks, emphasizing the importance of robust security measures for digital assets.
