Coinbase Commerce Introduces Platform for US Politicians to Accept Crypto Donations

Coinbase Commerce, a platform that enables businesses to accept cryptocurrency payments, has launched SupportCrypto, a platform that will allow US politicians to accept cryptocurrency donations. The platform is powered by non-profit software development group Engage Labs and will be operated by Coinbase Commerce. Users will be able to donate over 240 cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin and Ethereum, to politicians registered on the platform. Thirteen politicians are currently signed up, including pro-crypto Representatives Tom Emmer and Cynthia Lummis. The launch of SupportCrypto comes as cryptocurrency is gaining traction as a legitimate form of political donations. In the 2020 election cycle, both Republican and Democratic candidates received significant donations in cryptocurrency.
