Coinbase CLO Calls for SEC Transparency, Requests Probe Into Chair Gensler's Emails

Coinbase's Chief Legal Officer (CLO) Paul Grewal has called for transparency in the Securities and Exchange Commission's (SEC) dealings, requesting a U.S. court to compel SEC Chairman Gary Gensler to turn over his personal emails as part of an ongoing probe. "Government transparency is good on the whole," Grewal said in an interview with CoinDesk. "When you're being sued by a government agency, it's important to be able to get the documents that might be relevant to the case." Coinbase recently narrowed the scope of its request for records relating to Gensler to his tenure as SEC chief. The move is part of an effort to gain insight into the agency's decision-making process regarding the company's crypto lending products. Gensler's office has yet to publicly comment on the request. However, the SEC has previously stated that it is committed to transparency and complies with all court orders.
