Ethereum’s Usefulness ‘at an All-Time Low’ Right Now, Says Creator Vitalik Buterin

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin said the usefulness of cryptocurrencies is "at an all-time low right now," during an appearance on the X podcast, according to Polymarket, a prediction market platform Buterin has backed. “The stuff that happened in the last five years is kind of like a stepping stone towards getting scaling solved,” Buterin said on the podcast, run by Rob Wiblin of 80,000 Hours, ahead of Ethereum’s upcoming scaling upgrade, the Merge. “The reason that blockchains haven’t taken off is because they are too expensive to use."
