FBI Sounds Alarm on Surge in Cryptocurrency Exchange Impersonation Scams

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has issued a stern warning regarding a sharp increase in scams perpetrated by individuals posing as employees of cryptocurrency exchanges. These scammers employ phone calls or text messages to contact unsuspecting victims, fabricating claims of account issues and requesting sensitive login information or malicious phishing website links. "In the event of contact from someone purporting to represent an exchange or financial institution, it's crucial to proceed with utmost caution and assume it's a scam," emphasized the FBI.
