Friend Tech Founder Considers Migrating Away from Base

Friend Tech founder, Racer, is exploring the possibility of migrating the decentralized social network platform away from the Base blockchain. This news has led to a 20% drop in the price of FRIEND, the platform's native token. In an interview with The Block, Racer cited friction between the Friend Tech team and Base as a factor in the potential migration. "We're looking into how we can migrate Friend Tech off Base without it affecting users," Racer explained. "There has been some friction there between the Friend Tech team and Base for a while now." Jesse Pollak, core developer for Base, expressed understanding for Friend Tech's position while acknowledging the loss if they were to leave. "I completely understand why the Friend Tech team may have felt isolated or disconnected. I'd be sad to see them leave, but would support them in whatever way I could," Pollak said. The Friend Tech platform is built on Base, a layer-2 network created by Coinbase, which provides scalability and reduced transaction fees. However, the potential migration indicates growing concerns among developers about the limitations and support they receive from the platform. The developments surrounding Friend Tech's possible migration highlight the challenges faced by decentralized social media platforms in finding the right infrastructure and support for their growth.
