Paradigm Suggests 'Gas Fee Per Second' as New Network Activity Metric for EVM Chains

Paradigm, a prominent crypto investment firm, has proposed the adoption of 'gas per second' (gas/s) as a more reliable indicator of network activity for tokens running on EVM chains. This proposal aims to replace the commonly used 'transactions per second' (TPS) metric. According to Paradigm, gas/s offers a more accurate representation of network activity as it encompasses both the amount of computation a network can handle per second and presents a clearer picture of each chain's capacity and efficiency. Currently, opBNB holds the highest gas/s at 100 million gas/s, while the Ethereum (ETH) mainnet resides at the lower end with 1.25 million gas/s. Previously on 25 April 2024, Paradigm published a blog post introducing the 'gas per second' metric as a more accurate measure of network activity for EVM chain tokens compared to transactions per second.
