Perpetual Future Cryptocurrency Liquidations Surge in Past 24 Hours: Sizes and Ratios

In the last 24 hours, the cryptocurrency market experienced a significant spike in forced liquidations across various perpetual futures contracts.

BTC Liquidations

Bitcoin (BTC) perpetual future contracts saw a total liquidation size of $48.69 million, with a liquidation ratio of 65.11% on the long side. This indicates that a majority of liquidated positions were held by long traders, who were betting on a price increase.

ETH Liquidations

Ethereum (ETH) perpetual future contracts also faced heavy liquidations, with a total size of $16.83 million and a liquidation ratio of 62.89% on the long side. Similar to BTC, most liquidations were on long positions.

SOL Liquidations

Solana (SOL) perpetual future contracts exhibited a slightly different trend, with 86.66% of liquidations occurring on long positions. The total liquidation size for SOL stood at $6.14 million.

These forced liquidations highlight the volatile nature of the cryptocurrency market, particularly in the derivatives segment. Traders should exercise caution when entering into leveraged positions and be aware of the risks associated with such trading.
