SEC Pushes Back on Crypto ETF Decision? Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas recently tweeted that there were "no updates yet (on the Ether spot ETF) and we await news." He added that some were claiming the decision had been delayed until later that night, but no one he'd asked had confirmed this. The SEC has been considering whether to approve a spot Bitcoin ETF for months. In a recent interview, SEC Chairman Gary Gensler said the agency is "trying to get it right" and that he wants to see more investor protection in place before approving an ETF. It is important to note that even if the SEC does approve a spot Bitcoin ETF, it does not mean that the price of Bitcoin will go up. ETFs are simply a way for investors to get exposure to an asset without having to buy it directly.
