Digital Residency IDs Powered by Solana Now Available in Palau

The Republic of Palau, an island nation in the Pacific Ocean, has introduced Solana-based Digital Residency IDs, making it the first country to issue legal IDs on the Solana blockchain. This marks a significant development in the adoption of blockchain technology for government-issued identification. The Digital Residency IDs are priced at $248 and are issued through a partnership with decentralized ID protocol, RNS.ID. Palau has offered a digital residency program since 2022, allowing foreigners to establish residency in the country without physically residing there. With a population of around 22,000, Palau is the third least populous country globally. The introduction of Solana-based Digital Residency IDs aligns with the country's efforts to embrace innovation and leverage blockchain technology to enhance its digital infrastructure.
