South Korea's FSS Chief Meets with US SEC, CFTC Chiefs on Virtual Asset Investigations

South Korea's Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) chief Lee Bok-hyun met with the heads of the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to discuss cooperation on investigating unfair trade practices related to virtual assets. FSS chief Lee Bok-hyun met with SEC Chairman Gary Gensler to discuss mutual financial regulatory issues, including the background of bitcoin spot exchange-traded fund (ETF) approvals, and the need for close cooperation between the two countries. He also met with CFTC Chairman Rostin Behnam to discuss trends in U.S. virtual asset legislation and ways to strengthen information sharing between the two countries. The meeting agenda and discussions were kept private due to mutual agreement between the organizations. Previously on May 16, 2024, South Korea's FSS chief Lee Bok-hyun met with the heads of the US SEC and CFTC to discuss cooperation on investigating unfair trade practices related to virtual assets. ```
