Abu Dhabi Authority Bans Cryptocurrency Mining on Farms to Preserve Electricity

The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has issued a warning to farmers against using their farms for cryptocurrency mining. The authority cited concerns over increased electricity consumption in agricultural areas, which it deems a misuse of the land designated for farming. "Using farms to mine cryptocurrency is considered a misuse of the plot," ADAFSA stated. The authority also warned that violators would face fines of up to AED 10,000 (approximately $2,723).
