US Stock Markets Start in a Mixed Trend

The three major US stock market indices started trading in a mixed trend on Monday, with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite posting gains, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined. The S&P 500 index gained 0.39%, or 12.21 points, to 3,165.14. The Nasdaq Composite index rose 0.74%, or 69.27 points, to 9,439.16. The Dow Jones Industrial Average decreased 0.09%, or 25.85 points, to 28,927.35. The mixed start to the week came after a strong performance last week, when the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite both reached new record highs. Investors are now looking ahead to the release of key economic data this week, including the consumer price index (CPI) and retail sales figures, for further clues on the health of the US economy.
